My brother, Wes, and I decided to take a walk at Auburn Community Park on an spring afternoon; the air crisp as ever, yet the sun warm and soothing. As we wandered along the path and behind a vast hill, my eyes were drawn to the breathtaking scene before me. The grass flowed in perfect harmony with itself, dancing in the wind. I felt an overwhelming sense of belonging as the I followed my eye's trail into the field. I laid, engulfed in Earth's palm, floating through waves of green, with her deep, blue sky overhead. Wes captured the moment, but I knew I needed to communicate Earth's beauty through a more impactful portrayal.
While constructing any piece of art I typically prefer to use minimal tools in order to further connect myself to the work. With oil pastels and my fingers, I used a smudging/smearing technique along with aspects of pointillism to emulate the rawness of view, making sure to include flow and texture in my style in order to demonstrate depth.
Thank you, enjoy
